Abstract
365,478. Respirators. SOC. ITALIANA PIRELLI, 21, Via Fabio Filzi, Milan, Italy. June 17, 1931, No. 17608. Convention date, July 16, 1930. [Class 81 (ii).] In a filter canister 1 for respirators the suction tube 6 passes into the mass of the filter material 2 and the noxious gases are drawn in at both ends. As shown the tube 6 is secured to a central chamber formed by spaced perforated plates 4, 5, the filter material 2 being packed between sheets 13, 14 of gauze and cellulose on the outer sides of the plates. The canister 1 is closed at the top by a cover 8 and at the bottom by a perforated plate 12 against which the whole contents are pressed by a spring 7 around the tube 6 and between the cover 8 and a perforated cover-plate 9. The noxious gases enter through the plate 12 and holes 10 in the canister. The tube 6 is covered as at 15 when not in use. In modifications the plates 4, 5 may be secured to the canister, the contents of which are then arranged symmetrically, and partitions parallel to the canister axis may be provided to prevent packing of the filter material and to ensure axial flow of the gases.
