Abstract
385,500. Respirators. THALER, E., 85, Uhlbacherstrasse, Obert³rkheim, and CLORA-FABRIKATE CLOETTA & CO., 93, Pfadstrasse, M³nster, both in Stuttgart, Germany. April 11, 1932, No. 10338. [Class 81 (ii).] Filter canisters for open circuit respirators are so constructed that air entering through an aperture in the side wall of the canister passes through a layer b of wadding or like filter material and one or more layers x of active carbon or the like, the layers b, x being arranged longitudinally in the canister ; the air finally enters a chamber y between the filter material and the side wall of the canister and passes thence to the breathing hose, preferably through additional filter layers extending across the canister. As shown, the layers b, x, which may be arranged in any order, are formed between reticulated screens c, f, in an inner container a the walls of which are perforated as at d; the material b is poured in as a liquid suspension and subsequently dried ; the perforations dare thus filled and are coated exteriorly with an adhesive sealing composition. The container a and the outer container g are closed at their bases by plates positioned by a common securing ring, and the inlet aperture is formed by a flanged ring k screwed into registering apertures in the containers a, g, and secured by a ring n. A screw-plug may close the aperture when the appliance is out of use.
