Abstract

602,855. Silencing gaseous currents. VOKES, C. G. March 13, 1946, Nos. 7877 and 12750. [Class 7 (ii)] An air intake silencer filter comprises inlets 6, a high-frequency eliminator 3, a low-frequency silencer 17, fibrous or other filtering material 15, and an outlet 19 connected to the engine intake. The high frequency eliminator is formed by a pipe 7 leading to the closed chamber and arranged opposite a pipe 1 apertured at 8, the pipes being mounted on diaphragms 4, 5. The filtering material is attached to pleated gauze and is compressed to conical shape as shown. It is held against felt washers . 13, 14 by a cover 9, retained by a wing-nut 10. Alternatively a brush-type filter may be used. Specification 543,055 is referred to.
