Abstract
1507663 Silencing gaseous flow QUIETFLO ENG Ltd 14 March 1975 [5 April 1974] 15267/74 Heading F1B To silence high frequency sound in an air stream, duct 2 is surrounded by resonance chamber 5, 6 which are in communication with duct 2 via holes or slots in the duct wall. The holes may be formed by a perforated plate 8 welded over an opening or formed directly as at 61. The double skinned body 1 in conjunction with duct 2 and 3 forms a low frequency attenuator. An alternative arrangement of chambers 5, 6 is shown in Fig. 2 (not shown). The inlet and outlet pipes are not co-axial. The holes or slots are located, for example, at antinodes.
