Abstract
598,251. Air filters. AIR MAZE (GREAT BRITAIN), Ltd. April 6, 1945, No. 8580. Convention date, Oct. 4, 1944. [Class 8 (ii)] [Also in Group XXVII] An air cleaner inserted in the suction conduit 10 of an air compressor of the free unloading type or of an internal-combustion engine where back pressure may develop, and comprising an inlet 15, filter 11 and outlet 17 connected to the conduit 10 is provided in a chamber 18 between the filter 11 and conduit 10 with non-return values 25 mounted on chamber inlet ports 24 and which open to pass clean air under suction, but close under back pressure, and with non-return valves 22 controlling chamber outlet ports 21 and which remain closed under suction in the conduit 10, but open on the generation of back pressure. As shown, the cleaner is of the oil-washed type described in Specification 569,423. Each of the valves 22, 25 are cut from a single strip of leather, neoprene, &c. in the form shown in Fig. 3. A further filter 27 serves to clean any air drawn into the conduit 10 when the valves 22 are open.
