Abstract
604,786. Air filters. VOKES, C. G. Dec. 3, 1945, No. 32639. [Class 8 (ii)] A gas filter comprises a series of brushes arranged side by side so that their bristles though touching are not under restraint, and means are provided near the meeting place of the adjacent brushes to divert the gas towards their centres. A filter casing 1, Fig. 2, is open at two sides to provide an inlet 3 and outlet 5 and supports a line of brushes 2, the bristles 7 of which touch without restraint, and deflectors 17 divert dust-laden air towards the centre. The deflectors may take the form of troughs 20, Fig. 3, giving low pressure zones 21 in which dust is deposited and collected therefrom through ducts 22. In a modification, small diameter brushes act as deflectors. The main brushes may be zig-zagged.
