Abstract
598,928. Centrifugal dust separators. SOC. DE PURIFICATION INDUSTRIELLE DES GAZ. Aug. 3, 1945, No. 20042. Convention date, Jan. 20, 1943. [Class 23] [Also in Group XXVIII] A bent duct having an inlet 14, 15 of less cross sectional area than the outlet 16, 17 leading to a dust separator, not shown, is provided in the bend 12, 13 with at least one deflecting vane grid 18 consisting of a succession of identical equidistant vanes, so set as to produce a uniform deviation of the gaseous flux over the whole cross-section of the purifier ; each grid preferably being rectangular and located along the bend diagonal. Dust may be deposited on the edges 21 of the vanes, and two sets of grids may be employed in alignment with or offset from each other. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a rectangular sectioned conduit bent at right angles in a horizontal plane and having a grid of vertical vanes across its diagonal which set up eddy currents resulting in dust falling out of suspension into a hopper below. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
