Abstract
227,450. Siemens - Schuckertwerke Ges. Jan. 9, 1924, [Convention date]. Gases and vapours. electrically precipitating suspended particles from.-Gas to be purified passes along a pipe having slots or the like the entrances of which face the gas current, so that the passage of dust particles into a surrounding chamber containing quiescent gas is facilitated. In one arrangement, two gas conduits 1, 2, Fig. 1, are formed by series of louvers arranged within a chamber 3, terminating in a hopper 8 for the deposited dust. The gas flows downwardly and the louvers are inclined inwards and upwards. Each conduit contains a row of discharge electrodes 4. In another form, the gas flows between two coaxial cylinders, both slotted as described. When the gas has to flow upwards in the precipitator, the upper boundaries 14, Fig. 5, of the slots may be formed by plates curved so that the particles pass upwards into the slots and are then deflected downwards into the dust chamber.
