Abstract

181,284. Lodge Fume Co., Ltd., (Metallbank und Metallurgische Ges., Akt.-Ges.). Sept. 23, 1921. Gases and vapours, electrictrically precipitating suspended particles from. - Insulators 1 supporting the discharge electrodes 3 are mounted within one or more arches or housings 5 which are situated within the gas conduit 4, preferably at the end where the gas enters. The insulators 1 are thus protected from dust, and from water if the electrodes are sprayed. The housing 5 is open on the side remote from the gas inlet, and may act also as a gas distributor; additional distributing plates 6 may be arranged as shown. If necessary, means for heating the insulators may be provided. Doors may be provided at the ends of the housing 5, which extends completely across the gas conduit. Other doors 10 afford access to the conduit. Means for shaking or otherwise moving the electrodes may be arranged within the housing 5.
