Abstract

250,499. Lodge-Cottrell, Ltd., (Metallbank und Metallurgische Ges. Akt.-Ges.). Dec. 17, 1925. Insulators.-In order to prevent deposition of dirt on the insulators of an electric dust precipitator, these are placed in a chamber heated by the precipitator or its connecting pipes, so that a convection current of clean air or gas passes through the chamber. As shown. the insulator chamber 4 surrounds the precipitator- 1 where it is reduced into an outlet conduit 2. Inlet and outlet openings 9, 10 for air are provided in proximity to the precipitator and outlet conduit. A ledge 11 protects the outlet 10 from the weather. The floor and roof of the chamber 4 are both inclined. Air circulation may be controlled by throttle valves or slide valves. A screen 8 surrounds the high-tension conductor near the opening through which it passes into the precipitator to deflect away from the insulators any gas penetrating into the insulator chamber through this opening.
