Abstract

1,139,032. Electrostatic preciptators. TRION A.G. 9 Feb., 1966 [11 Feb., 1965], No. 5604/66. Heading B2J. An electrostatic precipitator has a tubular collecting electrode 1 surrounding a tubular discharge electrode 10 provided on its outer periphery with corona-discharge elements 11, 12, 13 so arranged that gas to be purified, in passing along between the electrodes, is subjected to a succession of treatment stages each of which comprises an initial corona-discharge step and a subsequent non-corona precipitating step. The corona-discharge elements may comprise barbed wires or barbed strips which are arranged in helical fashion as at 11 or as rings 12 around the electrode 10 or may consist of projecting tips 13. The electrode 10 is mounted on holders 9 supported from insulators 4. Voltage is supplied to the electrode 10 via a cable 7 connected to one of the holders 9. Gas to be treated enters at 14. The impurities, which may for example be dust or oil particles, are removed through a socket pipe 15 and outlet valve 16. The precipitator may be mounted vertically.
