Abstract
406,425. Centrifugal dust separators. JACOBSEN, O. B., 39, Queen Anne's Grove, Ealing, London. Nov. 4, 1932, No. 31131. [Class 23.] A dust separator, where the separation is effected by the rapid whirling movement of the carrying gas, is provided with a solid, or closed core F of circular cross section to reduce or prevent the formation of a vortex. A separator of the type described in Specifications 310,568, [Class 23, Centrifugal machines &c.], and 352,374 is shown in Fig. 1 ; it has an inlet A with inclined stationary vanes G, and an outlet pipe B for the clean gas. The core F is supported by the arms H concentrically with the separator walls and the separated dust passes downwards to the outlet C. The end of the core facing the gas outlet B is provided with a conical or cusp-like cap, and the outlet B has vanes J to straighten the path of the gas. In the modification shown in Fig. 5 the inlet A is at one end of the separator and the outlets B, C for gas and dust are at the other. A further modification with the core F fixed in a cyclone separator is shown in Fig. 7.
