Abstract

411,123. Centrifugal dust-extractors. ALLEN, R. H., 19, Makepeace Avenue, Highgate, London. Nov. 30, 1932, No. 33198/33. Divided on 411,121. [Class 23.] The outlet of a dust extractor of the cyclone type is combined with one or more concentric curtains of sheet metal or the like, to subdivide the area from which discharging gas is withdrawn. The separator 1 has a tangential inlet duct 2 and the lower end of the clean gas outlet pipe 6 terminates in a sleeve 7 adjustably supported by bolts 18 and nuts 10. An inner sheet metal curtain 16 has a sleeve 17 adjustably supported by bolts 18 and nuts 20. In the example shown, the gas streams are discharged separately to pipes 22, 21. The additional curtain may be outside the outlet 6 and may be provided with adjustable slots. A fan may be used to create the gas flow, and the dust laden gas from the separator may be passed through a filter to the atmosphere, or to the suction of the fan. In a modification, the outlet and the curtain are bell-mouthed at their lower ends, and the gas streams passing through them are combined for discharge.
