Abstract

300,841. Alexander, W. Feb. 25, 1928. Density separators.-In a separator or cleaner for steam, vapours or gases, having a casing 12, the entering material is given a rotating motion by inclined vanes in the annular inlet 2, and the clean gas outlet pipe 5 is provided at its inner end with a projecting flange 6, which may be straight or curved in section. The pipe 5 is fitted with a vane 7 having its inner end split into two parts 8, 9 bent oppositely as shown. The dust or other separated matter is thrown outwards and passes through one or more outlets 11 to the collecting chamber 13. In a modification the dust passes through an annular space 14, Fig. 3. The inlet and outlet may be at opposite ends as shown, or they may be at the same end ot the separator.
