Abstract
472,729. Centrifugal gas cleaners. BUELL COMBUSTION CO., Ltd. (Tongeren, H. van) Nov. 12, 1936, No. 30962. [Class 23] [Also in Group XII] A dust-separator comprises a casing in which gas flows past dry vanes 5 so arranged that gas escaping between them has been deflected backwards and then flows immediately between wet vanes 6 set at such an angle to the dry vanes as to give the gas a zigzag passage. The vanes may be arranged as concentric circles in a centrifugal separator 1 with a tangential gas inlet 3 with a movable flap 4, the gas finally passing to an upper outlet 7. The separator 1 may communicate with a secondary centrifugal separator 2 also containing wet vanes. Water and dust are collected below. The upper ends of the wet vanes may be curved and be wetted from above by pipes 14 on both sides or only on the side on which gas impinges and sprays 16 may be used. The wet vanes may be used in adjacent sets, and water from one set may be fed to the next in the direction of gas flow or in the opposite direction as shown in Fig. 5a. The rear edges of the vanes may be bent to minimize entrainment of water by the gas.
