Abstract

832,255. Centrifugal separators. LARDERELLO S.p.A. Feb. 15, 1957 [Feb. 18, 1956], No. 5154/57. Class 23 A separator for separating solid or liquid particles from gas comprises a tubular body 1, whirl vanes 11 having a hub 12 at the inlet end of the body, a gas outlet tube 5 protruding into the outlet end of the body, a particle collection chamber 7 communicating with the interior of the body through the annulus 6 between the outlet tube and the body, and flow straightening vanes 10 on the upstream side of the vanes. The body may have an enlarged portion 6a, and the chamber may have a valve discharging when collected liquid reaches a predetermined level. In Fig. 7 two of the separators are arranged in series, water is supplied to the inlet 20 of the second separator, and liquid from the chamber 21 of the second separator is circulated to the inlet 23 of the first separator. Proportions of the apparatus are given.
