Abstract

901,290. Centrifugal separators. PARSONS & CO. Ltd., C. A. Dec. 14, 1960 [Jan. 14, 1960], No. 1358/60. Class 23. A separator for removing from fluid a higher density substance than the fluid has swirlproducing vanes 4c and slots 6a through which the substance is discharged into a part of the separator partitioned from the rest of the separator. The vertical steam separator shown in Figs. 1, 2 has a baffle 8 to deflect the steam to the outer parts of the vanes. In the construction shown in Figs. 5, 6 the slots do not extend around the whole periphery of the whirl chamber, the arrangement preventing water falling back into the steam under the action of gravity.
