Abstract

664,042. Centrifugal-separators. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. Jan. 25, 1949 [Jan. 26, 1948], No. 2019/49. Class 23 In a separator for separating liquid particles from a gas comprising a whirl chamber, a tangential inlet, and a gas outlet concentric with the whirl chamber, baffles are arranged near the gas outlet, these baffles extending to, or close to, the wall of the chamber and having their lower edges not below the top of the inlet. In Fig. 1 radial baffles 9 protrude into the gas outlet 8 and are spaced above the inlet 3. In the modification shown in Figs. 2 and 3 radial baffles 16, 17 are located above the gas outlet 13. The outlet for the liquid may include a liquid trap 11 or be tangential to the whirl chamber. In Fig. 6, (not shown), horizontal radial baffles inclined to the vertical are placed immediately below the gas outlet. The baffles may be non-radially disposed and their lower edges may be inclined.
