Abstract

348,124. Centrifugal gas cleaners. VISCO ENGINEERING CO., Ltd.. PEEL, A., and SMITH, F. C., 162, Grosvenor Road, London. Nov. 8, 1929, No.34071. [Class 23.] Density separators.-Apparatus for separating dust or other particles from gases consists of a volute passage 2 with an inlet 5. The cross sectional area of the passage diminishes for a predetermined distance and then increases. The outer wall 4 of the volute passage may be composed of separate vanes or flaps 7 and has openings 6 through which the separated dust is expelled centrifugally. The passage is arranged in a casing 1 the partition 8 of the casing forming the upper plate of the passage. The lower face is closed by the plate 9. The clean gas passes through the opening 12 in the plate 8 and the dust passes through the openings 6 into the lower part of the casing. A flap 14 in the plate 9 can be opened periodically to discharge any particles which accumulate in the centre of the apparatus.
