Abstract
288,190. Prat, E. April 1, 1927, [Convention date]. Density separators.-Dust is separated from gases by means of a fan a with a volute extended beyond 360 to prolong the action of centrifugal force on the dust; a peripherally disposed branch conduit e includes a cyclone separator f and ensures separation of the dust. The outlet of the cyclone, separator is subject to suction produced directly or indirectly by the fan. In the form shown in Fig. 1 the fan is placed in a chimney b<1>, b ; the extension k of the volute is circular in form and leads to the conduit d connected to the upper part of the chimney. The branch conduit e opens tangentially into the separator f, the discharge conduit g of which opens into the lower part of the chimney. The gas from the separator may be passed through metal screens if desired. The fan and separator may be located outside the chimney and the delivery conduit provided with an ejector placed inside the chimney. Two fans may be mounted together and may each be provided with one or more peripheral branches and cyclone separators.
