475,126. Centrifugal dust-separators. CHELTNAM, C. H. W., CHELTNAM, C. H., and GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. May 14, 1936, No. 13704. [Class 23] Apparatus for centrifugal separation of dust from gas consists of one or more separators with axial inlets, arranged with their gas outlets connected to the tangential inlet of a cyclone separator, and with their dust outlets connected to a point in the cyclone separator near its dust outlet. In the form shown, the separator 1 has an axial inlet pipe 3 provided to rotate the entering gas. The separated dust is thrown out through the aperture 5 to the annular collecting belt 6, and the gas passes on to the tangential entry 7 of the cyclone separator 2, which is provided with a dust outlet 11 and a clean gas outlet 14. The dust belt 6 is connected by a conduit 8 to a belt 9 with a number of openings 10 through which the dust from the separator 1 is distributed around the chamber of the second separator. This distribution thus takes place at a position where the gas pressure is lower than that at the inlet 7. The vanes 4 rotate the entering gas in the same direction as the gas in the upper vortex ring in the separator 2. This separator may be of the multiple type described in Specification 406,036.
