Abstract
506,778. Centrifugal dust-separators. LAMB, A. F. Feb. 2, 1938, No. 3221. [Class 23] A centrifugal dustseparator has an annular inlet chamber a with a tangential inlet b arranged above a truncated conical chamber d which terminates in a vortex chamber i, and in the base of the chamber a are a number of circumferentially disposed ducts c which are downwardly -inclined both .circumferentially and radially, and are constructed so that their cross-sectional area diminishes from inlet to outlet. These ducts open into the chamber d, within which is disposed a flue e leading to a clean gas discharge pipe f having at its upper end a casing g provided with an outlet. The first separation occurs in the chamber a and some gas passes to the discharge pipe f while dust-laden gas passes through the ducts c and the chamber d to the vortex chamber i. The clean gas then passes up the flue e to the discharge pipe f and the separated dust drops to the outlet j. The flow through the separator may be obtained by means of a blower, or a suction fan, or by the use of both.
