Abstract

1534019 Air cleaner ATELIER DANDY 18 Nov 1975 [18 Nov 1974] 47534/75 Headings BID and B2P An air cleaner comprises a cylindrico-conical outer housing 1, 2 with a dust discharge valve 3 and a tangential air inlet 18, an inner housing 5 open at the bottom, enclosing a plurality of filter tubes 12 suspended from a tube plate 14 and having an outlet 9 for filtered air, and a fan 10 arranged to extract a proportion of filtered air from outlet 9 and return it to a rotary distributor 11 provided with nozzles (19) which direct the air into the upper ends of successive tubes 12 to clean them. Tubes 12 are arranged on concentric circles and common diameters of housing 5 (Fig. 4 not shown) and are held under tension between collars (13) in plate 14 and lower framework 16. The outer housing acts as a cyclone separator, and separation is stated to be improved by the fraction of cleaning air moving down housing 5 against the main upward flow. The cleaner may have a main fan upstream or downstream.
