Abstract
707,671. Electrostatic filters. HEINRICH, R. F. Nov. 16, 1951, No. 26882/51. Class 39(1) In a two-stage electrostatic precipitator turbulent flow is maintained in the ionizing zone, and streamline flow in the collecting zone; the electrodes of the collecting zone are provided with fins projecting transversely of the gas flow so that a number of gas swirls are formed adjacent the electrodes. This is stated to allow streamline flow up to a high Reynold's number for the centre part of the gas stream. The precipitator may comprise two passageways each containing alternate ionizing and collecting zones, in parallel. As shown, the precipitator comprises two inlet ducts 5 each containing an ionizing zone 6, and a single outlet duct 8 the collecting electrodes 7 being oblique to the axis of the precipitator. The precipitator may be adapted for gas flow in the reverse direction.
