Abstract
685,448. Centrifugal machines. SOC DE CONSTRUCTIONS MECANO-THERMIQUES. March 28, 1949 [April 3, 1948], No. 8421/49. Class 23 An apparatus for the centrifugal separation of dust from gas comprises plates 36, 37, 38, 39, Fig. 5a, which form lamellar inlet ducts 41, 43 in parallel leading to a hopper 7 and lamellor outlet ducts 42, 44 contiguous with the ducts 41, 43 and bounded by the plates 37, 38 and 39, 40 respectively; the direction of gas flow being such that in passing from inlet duct 43 to the contiguous outlet ducts 42, 44 the gas skirts edges 45, 46 and assumes a path of such curvature that the dust is projected into the hopper 7. Metal plates (not shown) intermediate adjacent plates serve to narrow the ducts. Two or more units may be arranged in series and dust is removed from the plates by a rake. An auxiliary fan draws dusty gas from the hopper and delivers to a common inlet 5. In a modification a main inlet 14, Fig. 8, delivers dust-laden gas into a rotary drum having four sets of parallel plates 13, 12, 13, Fig. 9, each set forming a lamellar inlet duct 51 and a contiguous outlet duct 50 delivering clean gas into a common exhaust duct 15 both ducts 50, 51 being open to a hopper 17 into which dust is projected radially whilst gas skirts the edge of each plate 12 in passing from ducts 51 to 50. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, comprises also the application of the apparatus to the removal of liquid droplets from gases. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
