Abstract
699,760. Gas filters. PERMENTIER, P. R. DE. March 16, 1951 [March 20, 1950], No. 6322/51. Class 8 (ii). In a gas cleaner comprising a plurality of staggered rows of spaced baffles plates 7 Fig. 2 arranged transversely to the direction of flow from the inlet 2 to the outlet 3 of a casing 1 each plate 7 has its longitudinal edges 8 shaped to form an open sided duct 9 spaced apart to allow access of gas to the plate surface where it is divided into separate laterally directed streams which enter into and are discharged from the separate ducts 9; the ducts being so shaped as to give a swirling movement to the gas thereby assisting dust separation. The space between adjacent plates 7 in the same row is of venturi shape and its outlet is tangential to the wall of the adjacent duct 9 of a plate 7 in the succeeding row. The plates 7 are located within the casing 1 by distance sleeves and they may be cleaned by directing a liquid on to their upper ends. In a modification each duct 9 instead of being curved comprises flat portions as shown in Fig. 6, and in a further modification the interduct portion of each plate 7 may be concave or may have V- shaped ribs 17, 19 Fig. 10 projecting towards the casing inlet and outlet respectively.
