Abstract
704,054. Electrostatic filters. RESEARCH CORPORATION. Aug. 18, 1952 [Aug. 28, 1951], No. 20699/52. Class 39(1) An electrostatic precipitator including a shell 10 containing a horizontal partition 12, a plurality of vertical pipe collecting electrodes 13 passing through the partition and a gas outlet 22 in the top of the shell, has a plurality of gas inlet conduits 23 passing through the top of the shell and through the partition into a zone between the collecting electrodes and the wall of the shell, the gas being directed laterally into the spaces between the electrodes. The inlet conduits 23 are closed at their lower ends by plates 24 and the gas is deflected by vanes 25 which may be perforated. The portions of the partition 12 extending across the conduits are perforated. A damper 27 is included in at least one of the conduits. Spray nozzles 28 are provided in the conduits to flush deposited material out of their lower ends. The shell may be divided by a vertical partition into two compartments, two inlet conduits being provided for each compartment. The vertical pipe collecting electrodes comprise a rectangular assembly, the shell being cylindrical.
