Abstract
705,036. Electrostatic filters. HEINRICH, R. F. Nov. 9, 1951, No. 26270/51. Class 39(1) In an electrostatic precipitator in which each collecting electrode varies in length, in the direction of gas flow, across the precipi tator chamber, a gas distribute is arranged at the entrance to the chamber so as to ensure that each portion of the gas is in the collec ting field for the same length o time. As shown, each collecting electrode is composed of shoots 3 inclined towards the centre of the chamber and fitting into a pair of walls forming a central channel for receiving the dust. A corru gated sheet 4 fills the space above the shoot. The walls forming the central channel 5 may be provided with dust catch pockets. The size of the apertures in the gas distributer plate 1 are arranged to supplement the natural tendency of the gas to flow with a higher velocity through the centre of the precipitator than at the sides. The gas may be admitted to the chamber from both sides. In another embodiment, Fig. 1 (not shown), the collecting electrodes are composed of inclined shoots extending right across the chamber.
