Abstract

1413391 Electrostatic precipitators ELEX AG 29 Jan 1973 [16 Feb 1972] 4448/73 Heading B2J An electrostatic precipitator comprises a housing 10 defining a gas passageway A with a hopper 17 beneath; an electrode system 18 including collecting electrodes 22 and discharge electrodes 24 which are suspended from a support structure 19 and which are tensioned by weights 28 spaced from each other by a frame 29; and a baffle 33 which extends upwardly from the bottom of the hopper 17 and passes through a dividing slot 31 in the frame 29, beyond the lower end of the discharge electrodes, thereby establishing a barrier to undesirable gas flow through the lower portion of the housing. The baffle, weights and frame are spaced apart sufficiently to avoid arcing therebetween. The collecting electrodes may be cleaned by scrubbing, vacuuming or, as shown, by using rapping bars 30, 32.
