Abstract

778,537. Filtering gases. KLOCKNERHUMBOLDT-DEUTZ AKT.-GES. Jan. 24, 1956 [Jan. 26, 1955], No. 2356/56. Class 8(2) A filter suitable for hot gases comprises a layer'of granular material 17 supported by a gauze 15 within a vertical casing 3 having a top dust-laden gas inlet 5, a bottom filtered gas outlet 8 and a bottom inlet 19 for a reverse flow of filter cleaning air flow of filter cleaning air together with a top outlet 28 for fouled air. A second and alternately used filter layer 18 is located within an adjacent casing 4 having corresponding gas and air ducts 6, 9, 20 and 29, gas being drawn by a fan 11 through one or other of the casings, according to the setting of flap valves 13, 14 and air being forced by a blower 24 through a rotating valve 25 to give a reverse pulsating flow according to the setting of flap valves 21, 22, 30, 31. The filtering layers vary between 20. and 200 mm. in thickness and comprise gravel or ceramic material of grain size between 2 and 10 mm.
