Abstract
755,481. Filters. BOSCH GES., R. Aug. 24, 1954 [Aug. 25, 1953], No. 24541/54. Class 46. In a fluid filter having two spirally-wound filter strips which are interleaved and radially separated from each other, sealing and spacing connections between the strips are formed by means of threads which are disposed near to the edges of and between the strips. The filter is made by winding two strips 1 and 2 of filter paper with wool threads 4, 5, 7, 8 and corrugated distance strips 3 and 6, disposed, as shown in Fig. 2, upon a mandrel 16. The threads are drawn through tanks containing an adhesive 19. Threads 4 and 5 are thicker than threads 7 and 8 whilst the distance strip 6 is more intensely corrugated than the distance strip 3 so that when the filter is inserted into a housing 11 having an inlet 12 and outlet 13, the spiral chamber 9 in which the threads 4 and 5 and the strip. 6 are disposed is wider than the other spiral chamber 10 in which threads 7 and 8 and strip 3 are disposed. The axial opening left by the mandrel is sealed by a disc 14. Hence, fluid entering the housing 11 passes the corrugated distance strip 6 into the chamber 9, penetrates and is filtered by the strips 1 and 2, collects in the chamber 10 from whence it flows past the distance strip 3 to the outlet.
