Abstract

601,749. Air cleaners. HOUDAILLEHERSHEY CORPORATION. Oct. 10, 1945, No. 26507. Convention date, April 21, 1943. [Class 8 (ii)] Reverse-flow of air through a liquid bath air cleaner comprising an inlet and a sump above which is mounted a filter mass holding shell, is byepassed through an opening in the shell wall located below the casing inlet and above the sump. The cleaner comprises a rectangular casing having on' opposite sides elongated inlet openings 18 formed with an inwardly directed flange, below which a cage 7 holding fibrous filtering material such as cattle-tail hair, wavy wire or vegetable fibre extends above a sump 21. An outlet 14 is spaced from the inlet 18 at one of the inlet sides of the casing. The cage 7 comprises telescoping upper and lower sections 28, 29 locked together by tongues 31 and openings 30. Slots 37a byepass reverseflowing air and prevent a blow-out of oil from the sump 21.
