683,139. Centrifugal-separators. BURGESS PRODUCTS CO., Ltd., and PARKER, O. G. Dec. 8, 1950 [Dec. 12, 1949], No. 31792/49. Class 23 A centrifugal air cleaner comprises a baffle 5 of truncated conical or dome form arising from the base 1b of the casing, a dust receptacle 7 exterior to the baffle, an air outlet 4 concentric with the baffle protruding through the base of the casing and passing through the small end of the baffle, an air inlet or inlets in the base of the casing communicating with the interior of the baffle and swirl-producing means associated with the inlet or inlets. The inlets are arranged between swirl-producing vanes 9. The top 2 of the casing is detachable to provide access to the receptacle which may contain oil to facilitate the dust collection. In a modification the cleaner is pear-shaped in plan, and a detachable dust receptacle depends from the base and is offset from the outlet.
