Abstract

510,439. Liquid - fuel injectors. PETTERS, Ltd., and BROOKS, H. Dec. 19, 1938, No. 1396. [Class 7 (iii)] To conduct heat from the nozzle A' of a fuel injector, a bushing D<1> of copper or other good heat-conducting material is disposed between the nozzle and the combustion chamber wall B<1>, a part D<2> of the inner and/or the outer circumferential surface of the bushing being cut away to limit the direct contact between the bushing and the nozzle and/or the wall. The bushing may have a flange D<1> which contacts with a flange C<1> on a sleeve C passing through a water jacket B and housing the injector body A, or may be integral with a sleeve C which passes wholly or partly through a water jacket. In an air-cooled engine, the bushing G, Fig. 7, is provided at its outer end with a flange G<1> having cooling fins G<2>.
