'.I The nozzle or nozzle holder, or both, are surrounded by a closed vessel containing cooling-liquid arranged to be cooled in turn by the cooling-system of the combustion chamber. Fig. 3 shows the nozzle 5 and holder 6 surrounded by a jacket formed by two sheet-metal shells 3, 4. Packing-washers 8, 9 are provided against the inner wall 1 of the cylinder jacket, and a gland at the outer wall 2 with packing 17 or 18. Where the injector is horizontal, the outer shell 4 may be enlarged towards the outer wall 2. Distilled water may be used as the cooling agent, and an air space is left within the jacket for expansion.
