Abstract
1322495 I.C. engine exhaust passages RICARDO and CO ENGS (1927) Ltd 15 Oct 1970 [18 July 1969] 36383/69 Heading F1B The exhaust passage 11 in the cylinder head or wall of an I. C. engine has a tubular heatshield 13 inserted therein to define an annular heat insulating space 14 therebetween. At least the inner end of the shield 13 is sealed in a gastight manner with respect to the passage 11 by means of a ring 16. The shield 13 may be an integral extension of an exhaust manifold or duct 12 with a connecting flange 17. The shield (13A), Fig. 3 (not shown), may be separate from the manifold and have sealing rings (16, 16A) at both ends. The space 14 may be filled with solid lagging material.
