In a rotary-piston I.C. engine of the trochoidal n and n+1 lobe type a spark-plug 14 is lodged in a bore or duct 20 having a uniform diameter of at least 6 mm. and arranged to meet the inner peripheral-surface 5 of the engine casing or enclosure body 1 where the pressure in a chamber 17 is substantially equal to that in an adjacent chamber 16 when a radial sealing strip or fillet 11 passes the mouth of the bore, thereby preventing combustion gases in chamber 17 mingling with fuel-air mixture in chamber 16.
