947,284. Rotary piston diesel engines. DAIMLER-BENZ A.G. Oct. 26, 1962 [Nov. 16, 1961], No. 40666/62. Heading F1F. A rotary piston diesel engine comprising a housing having a bi-arcuate inner profile 2 with two zones 6, 9 in closer proximity to the housing axis and a three-sided piston 3 planetarily rotatable within the housing, includes an inlet port 7 and an outlet port 8 just beyond and just in advance respectively of the zone 6, in the direction of rotation of the piston, and a precompression chamber 12 having an orifice 13 closely adjacent to the zone 9 such that during the expansion phase the chamber 12 is temporarily connected to the outlet 8 so that the pressure therein is reduced to the back pressure in the outlet 8 to enable burnt gases to escape from the chamber 12 to make way for a charge of fresh air.
