Abstract
1,213,718. Rotary-piston internal combustion engines. TOYO KOGYO K. K. March 19, 1968 [March 20, 1967], No.13358/68. Heading F1F. In a rotary-piston I. C. engine of trochoidal kind, comprising as shown, a three-sided piston planetarily rotatable within a casing having a centre housing with a bi-arcuate epitrochoidal inner profile and side housings and wherein a peripheral exhaust port is provided, the exhaust port is replaced by a plurality of exhaust ports 6a, 6b, 6c, Fig.2, separated by partitions 7a, 7b which are successively opened on rotation of the piston. In an alternative embodiment, the ports are in staggered relationship across the width of the centre housing 1 and in rotational direction of the piston so that the second and subsequent ports commence to open before the previous port is fully open. The porting arrangement allows of gradual reduction of pressure of the exhaustions combustion gases in the working chamber of the engine and decreased turbulence and as a consequence reduction in the high frequency exhaust noise of the exhausting gases.
