Abstract
1415564 Rotary positive-displacement-fluid machines E J STENNER 6 April 1973 [10 April 1972] 16582/73 Heading F1F In a machine that may constitute an I.C. engine an orbital piston 2 co-operates with sliding-rocking vanes 6, 7, 8, 34 and an inner orbital piston 31. Induction and compression are effected in chambers 37, 38, 39 while combustion and expansion take place in chambers 3, 4, 5. Passageways 17, 56 for working fluid and exhaust gases are formed in rocking members 9, 51, 55 and controlled by adjacent parts of the casing I and pistons. Spark plugs 64 ignite the fuel. Air and fuel are admitted through apertures 62, 63, respectively. Exhaust gases issuing from the passageways 18 escape through passageways 12. In other embodiments, Figs.3, 4 and 5 (not shown), the machine constitutes a two-stage or single-stage pump, the inner orbital piston being omitted in the singlestage version.
