781,958. Piston packing. TEVES, H., and TEVES, E. A., [trading as TEVES MASCHINEN-UND ARMATURENFABRIK KOMMGES., A.]. Sept. 13, 1955 [Sept. 25, 1954], No. 26231/55. Class 122 (1). A piston ring comprises a sealing ring 3 of synthetic resin capable of withstanding the temperatures experienced in internal combustion engine cylinders, for example polytetrafluoroethylene, urged radially outward by one or more annular inserts 1, 2 of resilient metal. In a modification, the sealing ring is of U-section and has a metal insert between the arms of the U. The inserts may be of steel and metallic additives, for example, copper or aluminium powder, may be mixed with the synthetic resin to increase its thermal conductivity. The sealing ring and inserts may be held together by adhesive.
