Abstract

751,649. Cylinder liners. THOMPSON PRODUCTS, Inc. April 5, 1954, No. 9964/54. Class 122(1) [Also in Groups V and XXII] A cylinder sleeve for an internal combustion engine is made from powdered metals, e.g. iron or phosphor bronze (see Group XXII) and has an inner porous face 11 and an outer non- porous face 12. The porous lubricant retaining. inner face extends to a depth of 0.001 to 0.004 inch and the outer face is sealed with infiltrated copper 15 (Fig. 6) preferably alloyed with about 5 per cent manganese and 1 per cent silicon.
