Abstract
812,161. Sleeve bearings. CLEVITE CORPORATION. March 13, 1956 [March 28, 1955], No. 7806/56. Class 12 (1). A sleeve bearing comprises a liner of lead, bronze, &c. 12, Fig. 1, secured to the inner face of a relatively stronger backing member 11, e.g. of low-carbon steel, which is provided on its outer face with indentations distributed throughout substantially the entire area. The indentations may be in the form of arcuate grooves 13 or, alternatively, transverse grooves or transverse or arcuate depressions. The invention is applicable also to non-composite bearings, Fig. 11, of aluminium, bronze, &c.
