Abstract
597,699. Piston-rings. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. June 25, 1945, Nos. 16114 and 16115. Convention dates, July 25, 1944, and Nov. 23, 1944. [Class 122 (i)] In piston-ring I of the kind having an internal annular recess in one face housing a second split ring II provided with a projection 14 extending to the outer surface of the main ring over the gap therein, the inner ring is of material, e.g. steel, bronze, nickel or that known under the Registered Trade Mark " Monel metal," of greater resistance to binding' than that, e.g. cast iron, of the main ring. The projection may be faced with or made of a good bearing metal and may be welded or brazed on to the inner ring. The cylindrical and flat surfaces of the rings may be machined together after assembly.
