[Class 122 (i)] A cooled piston a, particularly for engines in which the fuel jets g are directed to the outer edge of a recessed head, is provided with an inner central cooled hollow space f whilst the peripheral portion has a separate annular closed non-cooled hollow space i. Cooling liquid is supplied to space f by a central duct n and flows past baffles to a discharge duct o. The head is formed with a separate top h carrying the rings b and closely fits the bottom portion and a centre part e containing the ducts.
