Abstract

1,028,517. Pistons. BLACKSTONE & CO. Ltd. Dec. 7, 1964 [Dec. 6, 1963], No. 48335/63. Heading F2T. A piston for an I.C. engine is provided with annular finning 25, 26 projecting from the inner surface of the piston crown towards the gudgeon pin bosses for oil cooling purposes. As shown, the finning comprises two concentric fins 25, 26, the centre one of which being arranged to project into an oil-retaining trough formed by an annular fin 22 provided on the connecting rod. One or more oil-spraying orifices 24 or 27 are provided in the rod.
