Abstract

1,136,833. Cooling pistons. IFA MOTORENWERKE NORDHAUSEN VEB. 7 Jan., 1967, No. 1048/67. Heading F2T. Oil cooling means for an internal combustion engine piston 12 comprises an oil duct 14 in the connecting rod 15 communicating via a groove 10 with a bore 2 in the little end 1 which bore terminates in a flattened surface 3 on the end 1 facing the underside of the piston and is covered by an insert 5 having oil outlet passages 7 therein from which oil is sprayed on to the piston wall. The passages 7 extend radially and are of triangular cross-section having one wall formed by the surface 3.
