Abstract

802,480. Lubricating. SCHMIDT G.m.b.H., K. March 8, 1956 [March 23, 1955], No. 7338/56. Class 12 (3). [Also in Groups XXII and XXVI] Oil is supplied to a cavity in the head of an internal-combustion engine piston through a bore 26 or 32 in the connecting rod, Figs. 4 and 5 respectively, both to cool the head and to lubricate the gudgeon-pin. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 2 an oil feed is branched from the cooling oil pipe 14 to the gudgeon pin boss 15. Fig. 6 shows a modified form in which the gudgeon-pin is carried in an inserted portion 38 having a hole 40 from which returning cooling oil flows to the crankcase by way of the gudgeonpin bearing.
