963,148. Valve gear, lubricating. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT. Aug. 4, 1960 [Aug. 21, 1959], No. 27141/60. Heading F1B. In an I.C. engine valve gear in which the cam-shaft 1 is mounted in the plane of the joint between the cylinder block and the cylinder head in half bearings in the cylinder block without bearing caps, the valve tappets 5 are mounted in the cylinder head and arranged to maintain the cam-shaft in its half bearings. The bearing shells 4A are cast in position in cylinder block 2. Cam-shaft 1 may be lubricated by ducts (not shown) leading into the bearing shells 4A or by an oil reservoir. In a modification the cam-shaft is gear-driven from the crank-shaft.
