Abstract

582,965. Lubricating. WANS, J., and RUSTON & HORNSBY, Ltd. Oct. 9, 1944, No. 19326. [Class 12 (iii)] An internal-combustion engine or a compressor has oil. fed under pressure by a rotary pump through a telescoping pipe 16/12 to a passageway 10 in the piston trunk with part passing to a cooling chamber 1 for the piston head and part passing through a bore and radial openings 20 in the gudgeon pin 7 first to lubricate the small end bearing and passing thence by a duct 23 in the connecting rod to lubricate the big-end bearing. The cooling-oil portion returns by a telescoping pipe 13/17. Shock-reducing air vessels may be provided on the fixed members 16, 17 of the telescoping pipes.
